Despite the suspension of classes due to continuous heavy rain, the recent grand opening of futuristic play Vince Tañada’s Rizal 3000 was a huge success at St. Scholastica’s College Manila.

I saw at the entrance esteemed director Anton Juan, PX and Ssheng Ilano (thanks for inviting me), my dear friend Christina Aliada with her daughter Princess Denisse Cansino, and Gerald Magallanes.

Though it was dark since I was seated at the balcony during the show, I continued to take some notes with the help of a light from my mobile phone. Thanks to the assistance of the girl named Catherine Daymoto, the leader of Elia Ilano fans club, who told me the name of a performer for I could not recognize his or her face, except Vince Tanada, Johnrey Rivas, Elia Ilano, Joseph Tañada, Oj Arci, Peter Parker Tanada, JP Lopez, Chris Lim, Adelle Ibarrientos-Lim, and Vean Cancino for I am familiar with their voice.

Three scenes from Rizal 3000 that caught my attention were: the performance of Rizal (played by actor Johnrey Rivas) with Rizal’s girlfriends; Iosephus (played by Vince Tañada) with his badly-injured son Franchesco (played by Peter Parker Tañada) versus Rizal and his dead child of Josephine Bracken; and the last scene with fantastic assemble performance of the PhilStagers
