Kinondena ng Bureau of Customs – Port of Manila (BOC-POM), sa pamamagitan ng Auction and Cargo Disposal Division (ACDD) nito, ang pitong containers na may iba’t-ibang seized at forfeited goods na nagkakahalaga ng mahigit P1.650 million sa Biñan, Laguna.
Ayon kay BOC deputy spokesperson Atty. Chris Noel Bendijo ” the ten-day condemnation activity, which concluded on September 15, forms part of the Port’s continuing efforts to ensure the proper, lawful, and accountable disposition of goods forfeited in favor of the government.”
Ani Bendijo, kasama sa mga isinailalim sa condemnation ay grocery products, deteriorated LED lighting fixtures, furniture, medical supplies, mattresses, toothbrushes at iba pang household goods atd personal effects. Ang shipments ay may Warrants of Seizure and Detention (WSDs) na inisyu sa iba’t-ibang taon at iniutos na isailalim sa condemnation sa ilalim ng Order of Condemnation No. 01-2026.
“The goods were seized and forfeited in favor of the government for violations of Section 1400, in relation to Section 1113, of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), as well as Republic Act No. 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. The condemnation proceedings were carried out in accordance with established rules and procedures to ensure the proper disposal of forfeited goods and prevent their unauthorized entry into the market,” ani Bendijo.
Ang aktibidad ay bunsod ng direktiba ni District Collector Rizalino Jose C. Torralba, “reaffirming the Port’s commitment to the lawful, transparent, and accountable disposition of seized and forfeited goods.”
Ayon kay Bendijo, “under the leadership of Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, the Bureau continues to strengthen its enforcement and border protection efforts to combat smuggling and safeguard the country’s borders.” (JERRY S. TAN)
