Impeachment trial vs VP Sara tuloy pa rin kahit sa Senate break – Sen. Lacson

POSIBLENG magpatuloy ang impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte kahit naka-sine die adjournment kung maisusumite sa Senado ang articles of impeachment para sa paglilitis.

“Tuloy-tuloy yun, separate naman yung impeachment trial sa session eh, so yung sine die adjournment will not in any way affect the schedule of the impeachment trial,” ayon kay Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson.

Sinabi naman ni Senate Presidente Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, nakatakdang mag-break ang Kongreso sa Hunyo 5.

“The Senate, the legislative body will be on break by June 5. So that will be both houses of Congress.
But then again, the impeachment court is different from the Senate. So kailangan pag-usapan namin yung timetable. Just in case. Pero again, kasi lahat diyan speculative eh. Hintayin muna natin yung articles of impeachment if they pass it and they will transmit. Then we discuss everything else,” paliwanag ni Sotto.

Nauna nang sinabi ni Manila Third District Rep. Joel Chua earlier na maaaring pagbotohan sa plenaryo ang impeachment case sa ikalawang linggo ng Mayo.

“If ever pinasa nila [May] 11, then 12 ita-transmit nila, edi dapat 13 we will discuss it already and convene as an impeachment court,” wika ni Sotto.

Nabatid na ang mga naturang reklamo ay base sa iba’t ibang paratang laban kay Duterte, kabilang ang umano’y maling paggamit ng confidential funds, hindi maipaliwanag na yaman, at isang sinasabing planong pagpaslang kay Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na paulit-ulit namang itinanggi ni Duterte ang mga naturang paratang.
